ABOUT THE CHRISTINA MARY HENDRIE TRUST

The Christina Mary Hendrie Trust is in the fortunate position of being able to provide grants to charitable bodies in Scotland and Canada.

The trustees are constantly amazed by the great work done by charities and the individuals involved with them. The vision and enthusiasm and sheer determination to make a difference to people’s lives which many of them display truly inspires the trustees. Hardship and suffering affect all ages but the trustees are committed to supporting charities which provide predominantly for youth and the elderly. They will also support veterans organisations regardless of age and have a separate policy on supporting hospices.

Applications come from a variety of sources and the trustees will themselves seek out and invite suitable bodies to apply. They fully appreciate how hard it is to raise funds particularly when economic times are hard.

CANADA

One of the unique features of The Christina Mary Hendrie Trust is its connection with Canada. The history section explains why that is.

It is, not surprisingly, more difficult to attract applications from suitable bodies in Canada than it is in Scotland. However there are still family ties in Canada, mostly in Ontario, and the trust has a partnership arrangement with the St Andrew’s Society of Toronto.

THE TRUSTEES

The trustees bring together a variety of skills. Most are family members and all have a strong, open minded outlook and a keenness to understand the issues facing those who for whatever reason find themselves in difficult circumstances or who need steered away from harm.

They take their responsibilities seriously and consider it a privilege to be involved. They will often engage with applicants either before the meetings or to follow up on the progress of a successful grant.
