FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO CAN APPLY?

Although the Trust’s charitable purposes are broadly stated, our focus is specifically on assisting charities operating in Scotland or Canada, specialising in work related to veterans, young people and the elderly.

Within these criteria we have a particular but not exclusive or predominant interest in hospices and veterans of the armed forces.

We do not make grants to individuals except through the channels of another charity and only then rarely. If your organisation does not match the criteria set out above it is almost certainly not worth submitting an application.

HOW TO APPLY?

There are two options for starting your application:

  1. Apply online
  2. Contact the secretary for an application form
HOW MUCH TO APPLY FOR?

The average grant awarded in recent years was £7,500

CLOSING DATES FOR APPLICATIONS?

The Trust meets twice a year in March and October.

To be considered during the March meeting applications must be in the hands of the Secretary no later than 15th February.

To be considered during the October meeting applications must have been received by 15th September.

Late submissions will automatically be held over for consideration at the next meeting.

APPLICATION OUTCOME

Applications will be acknowledged, usually by email. If you do not receive an acknowledgement you should contact the Secretary.

If you are advised that your application has arrived late, the Secretary will indicate whether you will need to update the application for later consideration.

You will be told of a successful outcome as soon as possible after the meeting and will receive payment shortly thereafter unless otherwise intimated.

You will receive a pro forma letter if your application has not been successful.
